My name is TaraAubrey and my
art is inspired by the wondrous beauty and morbidity of nature. From
botanicals to bones, my work includes interpretations of things that
occur naturally. I find the natural world beautiful,
complex, and fascinating enough to focus on its many aspects. I particularly enjoy using floral and
animal subjects, and have been inspired by landscapes, human anatomy, and
elementals. I have had a relationship with the arts since elementary
school, and have continued my learning experiences throughout my life and
higher education. I have been commissioned to paint pet portraits, develop
posters for local non-profits, and have won wall space in several locations.
My preferred medium types to work with are acrylic paints, pencil, colored pencil, chalk pastels, and most recently
markers. I have created stained glass art with liquid lead and stained glass
paints. I have enjoyed the bold precision of pen and ink, and have been
exploring the world of digital art to stay informed of current trends. I have
recently fallen in love with watercolors and look forward to having a relationship
with gouache as well. I attempt a realistic reproduction, which usually
requires media that can be manipulated to show dimension. As I am so inspired by nature, I feel driven to represent it as
naturally as possible, choosing media that best compliment the subject matter.
I
am currently working on exploring the world of collage, and expanding my
knowledge in digital art. I have also recently been venturing into illustration
and cartooning and am learning to look at subject matter in simpler dimensions.
As someone who enjoys a challenge, I am always willing to try something new and
am grateful for every learning opportunity presented. I hope to learn about the
intricate art behind mosaics, and have been interested in designing tattoo stencils to be printed and distributed. My appreciation for aesthetics goes beyond
the canvas – I have made it a goal to make my surroundings beautiful
to keep my soul inspired. As an artist, I am my own ever-changing work of art.
“Great
art picks up where nature ends.” Marc Chagall
